The fashion world lost a precious gem yesterday with the demise of designer Rohit Bal. The designer – who was known as ‘Gudda’ to those close to him, passed away at age 63 after suffering a massive heart attact. The news of Bal’s demise was confirmed by the Fashion Design Council of India in a social media post.

As news of his demise circulated online, many Bollywood celebs, including Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Priyanka Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sidharth Malhotra and more took to social media to mourn Rohit Bal. Scroll below to check out their Stories remembering him.

Bollywood celebs mourn Rohit Bal

Several Bollywood celebs took to their Instagram Stories to remember Rohit Bal. Sonam Kapoor posted an emotional note alongside a picture of her in one of his creations. The actress captioned the picture, “Dear gudda I hear about your passing on my way to celebrate diwali in your gorgeous creation that you generosally lent to me for the second time I’ve been blessed to have known you and worn you and walked for you multiple times. I hope you’re at peace. Always your biggest fan.”

Priyanka Chopra, Ananya Panday and Kareena Kapoor also took to their respective social media handles to remember the deceased designer. The ‘Citadel’ actress mourned Rohit by writing, “Gone too young. Rest peacefully.” ‘The Buckingham Murders’ actress posted a couple of old pictures of Bal on her story while the ‘Call Me Bae’ star simply wrote, “Gudda Om Shanti”

Sidharth Malhotra – who once walked the ramp for Rohit, shared a picture with the designer and captioned it, “Deeply saddened by the loss. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.” Aditi Rao Hydari wrote, “Rest in style, rest in peace #RohitBal” Remembering Rohit Bal, Sushmita Sen wrote, “An indomitable spirit & whar a pioneer!! Rest in peace”

Anil Kapoor also paid tribute to Rohit Bal by sharing a touching note on his Instagram Stories. The actor wrote, “Heartbroken to hear about Rohit Bal’s passing. A true artist and visionary, he crafted iconic costumes for a song in Nayak and brought unmatched creativity to Indian fashion always. His legacy will live on. Rest in peace”

Born on May 8, Rohit Bal is a well-known Indian fashion designer who catered to both men’s and women’s fashion. Rohit began his career in 1986 and debuted his first collection in 1990. Bal is also known for designing costumes for Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Despite his health struggles, which included a hospitalization in 2023 for heart issues, Bal remained resilient and hopeful. The designer’s last public appearance happened last month. He made a spectacular comeback at the Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI 2024 grand finale. This event showcased his collection ‘Kaaynaat: A Bloom in the Universe’ and saw Ananya Panday strut the ramp as the showstopper.
